Failed grout and silicone let water through.

When grout cracks or silicone fails, water can travel behind tiles and into surrounding areas. If the tiles are stable, a surface repair may help stop the issue before it becomes a full renovation.

Common warning signs
  • Mouldy or peeling silicone
  • Cracked or missing grout
  • Efflorescence outside the shower
  • Damp carpet or swollen skirting nearby
  • Water stains near walls or doorways

Better suited to wet areas than standard grout.

Epoxy grout is non-porous, highly water-resistant and better suited to wet areas than standard cement grout. It is not a replacement for failed waterproofing, but where suitable, it can help reduce water passing through grout joints.

Water Resistant

Helps reduce water passing through failed grout joints

Stain & Mould Resistant

Non-porous surface resists mould and staining

Longer Lasting

Typically 10+ years when applied correctly

Suitability depends on tile stability, movement and where the leak is coming from.

Frequently Asked Questions

Honest answers about what to expect from a leaking shower repair.

Can you fix every leaking shower without removing tiles?
No. A surface repair is only suitable when tiles are stable, there is no significant substrate movement, and the underlying waterproofing is still performing. If the leak is coming from a failed membrane beneath the tiles, tile removal and proper waterproofing may be required. We assess each job honestly.
Is epoxy grout the same as waterproofing?
No. Epoxy grout is highly water-resistant, but it is not a replacement for compliant waterproofing membrane beneath the tiles. It is a surface repair option that can help stop water passing through failed grout joints where suitable. It does not waterproof the substrate or wall cavity behind the tiles.
Why not just replace the silicone?
Silicone alone is rarely enough if the grout behind it has already failed. Water can still pass through cracked or porous cement grout. In most cases, both the grout and the silicone need to be addressed together for a more complete repair.
How long does the repair take?
Most epoxy regrouting is completed in one working day. However, silicone is ideally applied after the epoxy grout has had time to cure — not rushed on the same day. Depending on conditions, this may mean a second short visit or the following morning.
What photos should I send?
Clear, well-lit photos of: the overall shower from a few angles, close-ups of grout lines where cracked or mouldy, silicone joints at wall-floor corners, and any water stains or efflorescence on nearby walls. These help us determine if a surface repair is likely suitable before arranging a site visit.
How do you detect where the leak is coming from?
We use a moisture meter and thorough visual inspection to assess tile stability, substrate condition, and signs of water egress. For more complex leaks, we also offer flood testing with dye tracing as a paid diagnostic service to confirm exactly where water is escaping before any repair work begins.
